Technical Writer
The Technical Writer is responsible for writing and maintaining technical
documentation related to the full life cycle development and maintenance of
client and web-based software projects, including existing applications.
The documentation specialist establishes document management plans and
procedures that include creating and maintaining a master documentation project
schedule and is responsible for documentation from inception to final delivery.
Responsibilities

Write, review, and edit documents for clarity and ease of use
including: user manuals, reference manuals, how-to guides,
on-line help, technical overviews, installation instructions,
and training materials.

Work directly with project/program managers and developers to
understand changes to the requirements, collect feedback from
subject matter experts and project/program managers and update
documentation accordingly.

Ensure usability of documentation by testing document validity,
identifying contradictions between specifications, design, and
documentation.

Ensure technical documentation is accurate, complete, and
adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format,
and style.

Work independently to ensure that documentation projects meet
content and schedule objectives.

Assist in establishing style guidelines and standards for texts
and illustrations.

Create and maintain document templates.
Requirements
-
BA/BS in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Computer
Science, related field, or equivalent experience.

3-5
years of technical writing experience, preferably in a software
development environment.

Ability to assimilate technical concepts quickly and present
information clearly and concisely for technical and
non-technical audiences.

Demonstrate a passion for learning and documenting new
technologies.

Ability to multitask with several documentation tasks with
changing priorities and work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing
technical project environment.

Ability to work independently, yet seek guidance when necessary.

Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
